Hey everyone,

long time no see! I am back with another blog post on my latest video on how to make a tie front top. I’ve been seeing these all over the internet lately especially during the summer so I had to try and make one for myself. I will link my video down below so that you can go check it out but I will also explain the process in this post.

Now back to the project:

To make this top you will need:

  1. 1&1/2 yards to 2 yards of lightweight fabric
  2. 1 package of 1/2″ bias tape
  3. Sewing supplies

Instructions:

  1. First make a pattern, I did this by tracing a shirt that I liked the fit of and then altered the shape to make it a tie front design, my patterns ended up looking something like this: Tie Front Top Patterns
  2. Once you have the patterns just cut the pieces out from the fabric
  3. Sew the base together first by joining the front and back pieces together at the side seam and shoulder seam
  4. Finish off the neckline/top of the tie with the bias tape
  5. Fold the sleeve piece in half and sew the side seam together
  6. Hem the sleeves then attach it to the body piece
  7. Hem the bottom of the whole thing and the top is complete!

If you need any more clarification on the steps I would recommend watching my video which goes into more detail!
